A charism is a gift of the Holy Spirit given to directly or indirectly benefit the Church. Charism is at the heart of a congregation's identity; it provides a frame of reference for mission, vision, formation and spirituality.
The founding charism of the Felician Sisters was a call to service, service motivated by love of God, "service to gain souls for Christ... through a total self-giving in corporal and spiritual works of mercy" (Constitutions of 1886). Welcome to the Felician Sisters of Buffalo, NY.

"... I am overwhelmed with gratitude and humbled by the generosity bestowed upon us."

Praised be Jesus Christ! How wonderful it is to praise the name of our God for all the good that has been freely given to us. From the Thanksgiving holiday, the generosity of so many to the Retirement Fund for Religious, through the solomn feast of Easter our lives continue to be showered with gifts of love and support from family, friends and benefactors.

As we go through our everyday lives we often forget about the footprints we make. The sisters who served in schools and parishes may have left footprints of compassion and joy as they taught eager children or worked with pastors and parishioners. The sisters who served at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Home for Children may have left footprints of care and concern for children who have felt alone or abandoned. Guardian Angel Day Care and St. Rita's Home for Children were served by sisters whose compassionate care left deep, lasting footprints.

Today sisters continue leaving footprints of the compassionate Presence of Christ in a wide variety of ministries. Sisters continue to staff elementary, secondary and college/university institutions and care for the poor and neglected on the street, in soup kitchens and centers for the poor. Sisters minister in parishes and at the Cantalician Center for Learning bringing God ever closer to those they serve.

The Felician Sisters continue to be ever present to the people of God. Whether in the Dioceses of Buffalo, Syracuse, or Rochester, the the streets of Pomona, California or Kingstree, South Carolina, the sisters seek ways to live their mission as inspored by our foundress, Blessed Mary Angela. As we live the Gospel in the spirit of St. Francis, live the vowed life as active-contemplative women and evangelize in all of our ministries, the sister strive to become the compassionate Presence of Christ to all.

As the Felician Sisters continue to cast their footprints I am overwhelmed with gratitude and humbled by the generosity bestowed upon us. It is our hope that the footprints that we make will inspire those whom we meet to love God more deeply.

Each day the sisters eagerly watch the progress of our renovated home. Each day we pray for the success of the project and the safely of the workers. Each day, before the Blessed Sacrament, we pray for those who continue to journey and partner with us through their generosity.

Thank you for being an integral part of our lives. Without you, our family, friends and benefactors, our footprints might not be as visible. We invite you to continue to journey with us as we leave lasting footprints in all of our ministries.

Thank you for being a part of our journey, our hopes and our dreams.

In the Heart of Mary,

Sister Mary Lorianne Tylczynski,
Provincial Minister
