BISHOP
COLTON
HIGH
SCHOOL HOLD ANNUAL BRUNCH
On Sunday, October 7, 2007, close to three
hundred alumnae from Bishop Colton High School gathered for
their annual Mass and Brunch at St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr
Parish. The alumnae represented women from the Class of 1950
through the Class of 1973 and came from California, Florida,
Indiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Ohio
and all areas of Buffalo.
Voices rang out in excitement from the moment they entered the
beautiful church, the heart of Polonia, to the time the women
left the hall after a delicious brunch. Mary Ann Majerowicz
Wieczorek Class of 1956 and her very spirited committee gave
200% of their time and energy to the success of the event.
After Mass was celebrated but before the alumnae left the church,
voices rose loud and clear as all in attendance sang the Bishop
Colton High School song written by Sister Mary Eustace Symeon,
CSSF.
The reunion, originally created to provide scholarships for
students, has as its goal to provide a forum for alumnae to
gather, reminisce about the “good old days”, catch up with what
everyone is doing and provide contributions to various charities.
The cost of the brunch is $20, a price which has not changed
since the inception of the reunion.
Bishop Edward M. Grosz, D.D., Auxiliary Bishop of Buffalo and
pastor of St. Stanislaus Parish accepted a contribution, on
behalf of the Bishop Colton Alumnae, from Mary Ann Wieczorek,
reunion chairperson. Mary Ann thanked the Bishop for his warmth
and hospitality. Bishop Grosz, in turn, invited the alumnae
to come again. Sister Mary Johnice Rzadkiewicz, CSSF, Class
of 1964 accepted a contribution from the alumnae for the Response
to Love Center.
Sister Mary Lorianne Tylczynski, CSSF, Class of 1960 and Provincial
Minister of the Felician Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of
Mary Province, accepted a contribution from the alumnae for
the Renovation Project at Villa Maria Convent. The contribution
is a tribute to the Bishop Colton High School Alumnae and will
be used toward the Grotto of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Once the
renovation project is complete, a plaque will be placed by the
Grotto to designate the contribution. Sister Lorianne was extremely
grateful to the committee for their work and to the alumnae
for supporting the Annual Mass and Brunch. Sister Sharon Marie,
asked the alumnae to log on to www.cssfbuffalo.org to check
out the building project as well as the great things happening
at Villa Maria.
The brunch was catered by Kornowicz Caterers and included, fruit
cup, pancakes, lazy pierogi, kielbasa, pork sausage, ham, scrambled
eggs, egg and cheddar omelets, rye bread, butter, home fried
potatoes, Danish, orange juice, coffee and tea. A split club
was held with three prizes being awarded. A Chinese Auction
was also held. Prizes were donated by the committee members
and a number of women who were in attendance. Attractive fall
mum centerpieces were given as door prizes.
